El Dorado Maroma is a beautiful small, adult only resort located in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. It is located about 29 miles from the airport and is located on Maroma Beach. Maroma Beach was named one of the most beautiful resorts in the world. It is a small resort with only 157 suites and has a very romantic feeling, which is great for Honeymooners, Anniversaries, or small wedding groups.
Pulling up to the resort, I was a little underwhelmed as there were many cars at the entrance for the Maroma Adventures next door. It was a little cramped and they need a better system for the parking as it takes away from the initial impression of the resort. You pull up to a small lobby which served its purpose. They are working on adding an additional lobby which will make it much nicer. I overlooked the boringness of the lobby as I knew what the resort offered- the overwater bungalows!!! Ekkkk. The very respectable staff checked us in and took us to the room. He also gave us a mini tour of the property to make sure we were aware of where everything was located.
This resort raves about its gourmet all inclusive experience. My first taste was alright. We had lunch at Papitos which was about 3PM and there was little left from the lunch rush, so the food display (aka buffet) was just ok. It was not the best first impression, but it was an off hour. We had dinner at the Caribbean Restaurant and it was delicious. They do have some strange options on the menu, but all of the food was beautifully plated and tasted wonderful. Trying new foods was fun and a new experience for me. The service in the restaurants was wonderful and very fast. Overall, the food was great. We had a good experience dining and met a lot of new people.
The drinks are amazing!!!! Everything is freshly made with fresh ingredients. They do not use mixers to make the drinks!!! Ekkk... mango daiquiri please! I was very impressed with this and many people made comments around the pool on how wonderful the drinks were at the resort.
We walked the beautiful grounds and found 2 main pools. One was the activity pool and the other was the relaxing pool. At the activity pool, the music was lively and the people were really having a great experience. It is right in the middle of the resort. The relaxing pool was quiet and serene, but both offered a swim up bar. The pools were great!
Beach: The beach was great! It is a wide stretch of sand on Maroma Beach. It is so loverly and you can walk as far as you would like and view the unspoiled and untouched jungle just past Maroma Adventures. At the resort, they do have large barriers out in the ocean to protect the beach from soil erosion. There is also a small man made island that was built to protect the shore as well. The view from the island is gorgeous and the water is unlike any that I have seen before.
We saw two types of rooms at El Dorado Maroma- the deluxe room and the Palafitos. The Deluxe Room was huge for an all inclusive and it had a very large balcony area with seating and a bed on the verandah. It was great for morning coffee!
We also saw the Palafito rooms! They were breathtaking and I have no words to describe the exclusivity of the rooms. Walking into the Palafito area, you walk past a guard and all of the other Palafitos. There are two room categories with the Palafitos- the Elite and resort View. The Elite are the 8 rooms that face the ocean and have a 180* ocean view. When you walk in the door- your first view is ocean from the glass floor panels, which welcomes you in the sitting area with your personal snorkel set and your mini bar. As you turn to the left you see the ocean from your balcony. It is Simply Amazing. I could not take in the king bed and the amazing decor for looking at the ocean. There is a sitting area on the porch as well as a personal infinity pool overlooking the ocean. There is a small platform for sunbathing that is located a few steps down from the main balcony. You do have an outdoor shower and a beautiful large bathroom with a double jacuzzi. Ohhh and the shower has a glass floor to view the beautiful water while showering- the ultimate experience.
Overall- the resort was amazing. It is small, very lively, and the service is top notch. We never wanted for anything and I constantly had a smile on my face. It was a lovely resort and I would highly recommend it to my clients.
